Friday marks two months since Antonio Zambrano-Montes was shot by police in Pasco, Washington after he was reportedly throwing rocks in a crowded intersection.
Several groups are planning three days of events to mark the shooting. They are calling for greater police accountability.
The first event on Friday is being organized by a new group called Tri-Cities Community Solutions. They are calling attention to the shooting anniversary with a moment of silence where it happened. At past events, protesters have blocked the major intersection there.
On Saturday, there will be speakers and a march around Pasco.
Then on Tuesday, there will be a 14-mile protest march spanning Richland, Kennewick and Pasco. Tuesday’s event is part of a greater national event aimed at stopping police shootings.”
An investigation of the shooting is ongoing.
