A new cable reality show features rugged Northwesterners tromping through the region’s beautiful landscapes. They’re searching for a Northwest icon -- Sasquatch.
There is even a $10 million prize.
Spike TV threw together big game hunters, dedicated Big Foot aficionados called “squatchers” and animal-loving pro photographers. The new eight-week reality show is called 10 Million Dollar Big Foot Bounty.
New York University’s Todd Disotell signed on to be the show’s lead scientist. He says he taught contestants to properly collect DNA samples.
“To see all these people, some of whom are rough mountain men and women kind of people, following these very strict protocols was great,” says Disotell.
The show’s producers filmed for about a month near Goldendale, Washington in Gifford Pinchot National Forest and at Brooks Memorial State Park, along with parts of northern California.
The show premieres on Friday.
