Oregon’s Measure 92 would require food manufacturers and retailers to label genetically engineered foods.

As of Friday afternoon, it was still losing by about 4,500 votes, but that's close enough to give supporters a glimmer of hope. And they have yet to concede defeat.

In fact, Measure 92 supporters are still raising money. They're using it to bankroll an ongoing effort to contact voters with contested ballots.

Yes on 92 spokesman Sandeep Kaushik said he knows it's a bit of a Hail Mary.

"The math is a little bit tough for us,” he said. “But there are still quite a few ballots out there."

Major news organizations including the Associated Press have already pronounced defeat for Measure 92, but it’s not official until the state certifies the results in early December.
