A cable television host is in hot water with the state of Oregon. Pete Nelson of the Animal Planet show "Treehouse Masters" has been fined for operating without a contractor's license.
Nelson's specialty is building giant tree houses on giant trees. This fall his show featured a house his company built on a towering Sitka spruce near Lincoln City, Oregon.
But Oregon's Construction Contractors Board said Nelson's Fall City, Washington-based company is operating without a license. The agency fined him $5,000.
It's not the first time Nelson has run afoul of Northwest construction regulators. He was fined after building a treehouse in southern Oregon last year. He's also tangled with officials in King County, Washington, for several of his projects there.

Nelson Treehouse and Supply is a licensed, bonded and insured treehouse building company based out of Washington State. While working in Oregon, our company purchased supplemental L & I coverage which comprehensively insured the talented team who worked on the project. It should also be noted that the structure itself was fully engineered, permitted and signed off by the local building authorities.
