Opponents of two liquefied natural gas export terminals proposed for Oregon will take their message to the state capitol Tuesday.
Organizers say they're expecting hundreds of people from across Oregon at the rally, which is aimed at Governor Kate Brown.
Terminals on the Oregon coast would help facilitate the shipment of natural gas to foreign markets. Oregon is considered an attractive location for these export terminals due to it being due west of where a lot of this LNG is extracted from the ground, and having the necessary coastal access points to build these export terminals.
Opponents of the terminals want Governor Brown to wield her influence to halt state approval of the projects. Federal approval would also be necessary before the export terminals could be built.
