Former federal prosecutor Rob McCallum, far left, is no longer representing indicted Washington State Auditor Troy Kelley.

One of two former federal prosecutors defending indicted Washington State Auditor Troy Kelley has dropped out of the case.

Rob McCallum filed a notice of nonrepresentation Wednesday with the U.S. District Court in Tacoma. Mark Firmani, a spokesman for Kelley's defense, said, "It was a staffing issue and nothing more than that."

Kelley has pleaded not guilty to a 10-count federal grand jury indictment. He’s accused of tax evasion and concealment of stolen property related to his past real estate business.

Kelley has announced he will take an indefinite leave from the State Auditor’s Office beginning Monday.
